The MistAway System™ , the system sold by Mosquito Mister, decreases the bug population by intermittently misting a solution specifically labeled for misting system use. There are several solutions available on the market today and generally contain one of the following active ingredients:

Pyrethrum (Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium), which is an insecticide made from crushed flowers along with the synergist PBO. Water-based.

Permethrin (A manmade equivalent) and synergist PBO. Permethrin is often used in dog flea dips, however toxic to cats. Water-based.

Essential Oils - Rosemary and Peppermint oil. Oil based and should not be used in the tankless system.
All of the solutions provide various levels of mosquito control. Which product you choose to use will depend upon the severity of your mosquito infestation, other types of insects you are targeting, system type, and personal preference.
Misting nozzles are installed and the lines run from the system containing the misting solution. There are two types of systems: The 55 gallon drum and the Tankless. The 55 gallon drum system holds 54 gallons of water and the insecticide. The Tankless system contains a cartridge of solution that dispenses and mixes in small batches. Each system has a timer which allows you to specify how often and how long you would like the system to mist. Each system also comes with a remote control allowing you to mist on demand. Systems which include an optional wind sensor ensure the system does not unnecessarily mist in the presence of windy conditions. The misting lines and nozzles are easily installed around the perimeter of your home and/or other structures and can be installed with a zone design to allow specific zones to be turned on and off while other zones remain active. Nozzles can be placed along fence lines, trees, decking. Special risers allow nozzles to also be placed in areas that do not have a method for nozzle attachment (e.g., flowerbeds).
One of the great advantages of the MistAway System is that it does not attract bugs to your yard like other products, but simply repels/kills the bugs that are already there. Additionally, because the systems is set up and pre-programmed by you, the only time you need to think about the system is when it is time to refill. How often you will need to refill your system will depend on how many nozzles you have installed and how often you use the system.
